Training in the Bowen Technique (Bowtech) takes seven Modules. Each Module is 16 hours or two days and these can sometimes be taught in pairs (1&2, 3&4, 5&6), with a Revision module before the final seventh module for evaluation at Professional level.
The training sessions are spread over time to allow for practice and integration. The minimum time for completion of all seven modules is at least one year, but two years or more, allows for a deeper understanding of this Holistic work.
Each Module consists primarily of hands-on training. You learn through demonstration and immediate practice of the Bowen moves. Written and practical assessments are mandatory, and case studies are required as part of your training. There are illustrated training manuals in English with separate Turkish manuals outlining the main points.
Module Outline
Module 1: procedures for lower back, upper back, neck, kidney, and head.
Module 2: procedures for hamstrings, respiratory, shoulders, cramp
Module 3: procedures for pelvis, elbow & wrist, sacrum, knee. Review of previous modules.
Module 4: procedures for upper respiratory tract and tempero-mandibular joint, ankle & foot procedures, babies & children, forearm and Bowen seated. Review of previous modules.
Module 5: procedures for gall bladder, chest, coccyx, additional shoulder procedures. Revision of previous modules.
Module 6: procedures for bed-wetting, buttock pain, bursitis, perineum, thoracic, recommendations to aid conception. Review of previous modules.
Module 7: Review and assessment of all Bowtech procedures. Successful candidates receive a Diploma of proficiency from the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia (BTAA).
All case studies, written assessments, and an Anatomy/ Physiology certificate need to be completed and passed in order to qualify for the Diploma.
You may start training without a certificate in Anatomy and Physiology (A&P). However, an A&P certificate is a requirement before taking Module 7 and qualifying for practitioner status.
A&P Courses are available online in English.
A current First Aid certificate is also a requirement before accreditation and must be renewed every three years.
The course content remains the same in other all countries where the Bowen Technique is taught, such as France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Bulgaria, Greece, UK, USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, etc. You can take modules in order in any country offering Bowtech.
